REMEMBER WHEN PEOPLE LIVED IN VILLAGES?

The Ground crew comes from all over, we’ve all walked different paths to get here. How we all came to be here in the one place at the one time is anyone’s guess, but we all hold a few things in common.

We think of Ground as a community hub for Currumbin Valley, a place to have real conversations with friends and family and then kick a ball around with the kids.

We also source the best artisan products and produce from local producers. Everything from organic fresh produce, dried goods, personal care products to craft beer. We figure we can learn a lot from our local producers and respect their skills. We don’t like plastic, waste or chemicals but we do love the colours of seasonal fruit and vegetables

In doing this you and we are building and supporting a local living economy for Currumbin Valley. A local living economy connects local producers with local customers. It minimises transportation costs, waste and connects local producers with their local customers. It disrupts the oligopoly of the big corporate grocery chains by offering a local alternative that’s fun, socially inclusive and keeps money circulating within the Currumbin economy.

Our Movies that Matter film series keeps us all informed and curious about new ways of doing things and questioning where our leaders are taking us. Albert Einstein famously said “The mind that opens to a new idea never returns to its original size”. Be like Albert.

We also run signature Ground events like our Masquerade Ball, middle of winter, under the stars, live performers, good food and good wine. C’mon everyone loves a good dress up, right?

We like to think we’re a pretty fit and attractive bunch and we credit that to common sense and traditional & natural medicines. We like soaking in hot tubs outdoors under the stars balanced with a little breathlessness in the cold bath.

Other than that we like to keep things pretty simple, just like the old days when people lived in villages and cherished their community. We hope we’ll see you soon.
